Turkish truckmaker Ford Otosan announced a €460 million ($530.73 million) investment program to develop a new generation of driver cabins for its Ford Trucks heavy commercial vehicle brand, aiming to push into the European market while preparing for upcoming EU emissions and safety regulations.
The company, jointly owned by Turkish industrial conglomerate Koc Holding and U.S.-based Ford Motor Company, said late Tuesday that it plans to make a net investment of €364 million through 2030 under its Ford Trucks New-Cab Program.
The next-generation cabins developed under the program are expected to begin entering production gradually in 2028, Ford Otosan said.
The company said €122 million has already been spent on preliminary feasibility work. An additional €96 million will come from government incentives and Iveco's engineering support, bringing the project's total value to €460 million.
Ford Otosan and Iveco had signed a binding Joint Development Agreement in March 2025 to co-design and engineer a new heavy-duty truck cabin platform.
The joint development program would cost €343 million, according to the disclosure at the time, covering engineering, prototype development and common sourcing, while each manufacturer remains responsible for producing, assembling and customizing the cabins for its own vehicles.
The new cabin family is designed to meet the EU's tougher direct vision, emissions and safety requirements by improving drivers' field of view, reducing blind spots around pedestrians and cyclists, and supporting better aerodynamics to cut fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
The platform will also accommodate advanced safety technologies required under the bloc's updated vehicle regulations.
Ford Otosan is Türkiye's largest commercial vehicle manufacturer and Ford's biggest commercial vehicle production hub in Europe, operating manufacturing facilities in Kocaeli, Eskisehir and Romania's Craiova.
The company has an annual production capacity of 934,500 vehicles, including 405,000 units at its Craiova plant in Romania, where it produces the Ford Puma and Ford Courier models.
The automaker produced 700,174 vehicles in 2025 and sold a record 724,497 units, including 602,842 in export markets.
Overseas sales generated $15.4 billion in revenue, helping lift total revenue to ₺830.8 billion and reinforcing the company's position as Türkiye's leading exporter.
