Owners of Turkish snack brand Zuber were taken into custody in Istanbul as part of an investigation into alleged drug-related crimes involving public figures, authorities said on Tuesday.

Murathan Kurt and Nailcan Kurt, who lead the healthy snack brand, were detained during coordinated police operations carried out across the city as part of an investigation involving 25 suspects.

Snack brand owners among detainees

Zuber is a Türkiye-based packaged snack brand that produces fruit- and nut-based snack bars and similar products, operating under Alterna Gida. The company focuses on ready-to-eat snacks made primarily from dried fruits, nuts, and other plant-based ingredients.

The brand has gained popularity in recent years due to its focus on snacks positioned as healthier alternatives to conventional packaged products.

Businessman Hakan Tuncelli, identified as the owner of Terzi, an Istanbul entertainment venue, was also taken into custody.

Prosecutors cite drug facilitation allegations

The Istanbul Public Prosecutor's Office said the accusations included purchasing, accepting, possessing, or using illegal drugs for personal use, as well as facilitating their use, which are offenses under Turkish law.

Under Turkish legislation, narcotic or stimulant substances refer to illegal drugs that affect the central nervous system and may lead to dependency.

Among the 17 detained suspects were public figures, including singers Kaan Tangoze and Murat Dalkilic.

Authorities did not provide further details on the timeline of the investigation or possible charges.
