The National Palaces Administration of Türkiye has been invited as the guest of honor to the 25th General Assembly of the Association of European Royal Residences, one of Europe’s leading cultural heritage networks.

The meeting will be held on April 20-22, 2026, at La Venaria Reale in Turin, Italy.

The Association of European Royal Residences, headquartered at the Palace of Versailles, brings together prominent royal palace and museum institutions across Europe.

Its membership includes institutions such as Schonbrunn Palace, Spain’s Patrimonio Nacional, the Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation, and Historic Royal Palaces in the United Kingdom.

The network represents more than 100 palace museums and promotes cooperation in restoration, conservation, and contemporary museology practices.

Türkiye to present integrated palace management model

At the Turin assembly, the National Palaces Administration will deliver a comprehensive presentation outlining Türkiye’s integrated “single-body” palace management model.

The presentation will highlight the administrative restructuring implemented in 2018, when major Ottoman imperial sites, including Topkapi, Yildiz, and Edirne Palaces, were unified under a single institutional framework.

The Turkish delegation is expected to emphasize the model’s contributions to institutional coordination, heritage protection policies, and scientific research capacity. Ongoing restoration projects, the planned museum complexes within the Topkapi Palace arsenal area, as well as the development of modern storage and research facilities, will also be presented.

Restoration of Edirne Palace among key topics

A significant part of the presentation will focus on the ongoing restoration and archaeological excavation works at Edirne Palace (Saray-ı Cedid-i Amire). Severely damaged following the 1877–1878 Russo-Turkish War and neglected for decades, the site has been undergoing systematic restoration and excavation since its inclusion in the National Palaces Administration in 2022.

The project aims to restore one of the Ottoman Empire’s major administrative centers and will be shared with participating European heritage institutions as part of the technical program.

The Turkish delegation, led by National Palaces Administration President Dr. Yasin Yildiz, will also engage in bilateral meetings and technical visits during the Italy program. The invitation to Türkiye was extended by Dr. Christophe Leribault, former President of the Christophe Leribault Foundation, reflecting the growing international recognition of Türkiye’s institutional capacity in heritage management.

As part of the visit, the delegation will hold meetings with cultural sector representatives in Milan and conduct technical inspections at UNESCO World Heritage sites in Turin, including La Venaria Reale, the Royal Palace of Turin, and the Stupinigi Hunting Lodge, to explore potential areas of cooperation.
