Azerbaijan will continue supporting Türkiye as it prepares to host the 31st Conference of the Parties to the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change, or COP31, Foreign Minister Ceyhun Bayramov said.
Bayramov made the remarks at the opening of the Fourth Climate Week, or CW4, held in Baku under Azerbaijan’s hosting and organized by the Foreign Ministry.
He said Azerbaijan was working closely with partners from Türkiye and Brazil.
“I would like to once again reaffirm Azerbaijan’s unwavering fraternal support for Türkiye as it prepares to host the next COP,” Bayramov said.
Bayramov said cooperation between the COP29 and COP31 presidencies represented an example of regional solidarity.
“This cooperation serves to ensure continuity, ambitious climate finance mechanisms and the continuation of global action,” he said.
Türkiye is set to host COP31 in the southern city of Antalya from Nov. 9 to 20. The Conference of the Parties, or COP, is the annual decision-making body of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, bringing together national governments, international organizations and civil society groups to negotiate global climate policy.
