Actress Hande Ercel and businessman Hakan Sabanci have reportedly ended their relationship after three years together. The first sign came when Ercel removed their shared photos from her Instagram account, which many took as confirmation that the relationship had reached its end.
On Kanal D’s Gel Konusalim talk show, television host Ece Erken suggested that the breakup was not sudden.
According to her, the couple had already gone their separate ways at the beginning of August, when Ercel was on holiday with her niece and sister. She added that they had waited before letting the news reach the public.
Reports claim the separation was tied to marriage plans. Ercel was said to be ready to move forward, but Hakan Sabanci’s mother, Arzu Sabanci, allegedly did not approve of the match. Following a trip to Italy, the couple is reported to have decided to end the relationship.
The Sabanci family is one of Türkiye’s most prominent business dynasties, which has long drawn public interest into their private lives.
Amid the rumors, Arzu Sabanci shared a message on Instagram that sparked further debate: “Cehalet de uyku gibidir. Seni uyandiran kisiye ilk tepkin kizginliktir,” which translates as, “Ignorance is like sleep. Your first reaction is anger toward the one who wakes you.” The post quickly attracted attention and was widely linked to the unfolding situation.
