Magnitude 5.3 earthquake strikes off Türkiye's Mugla coast

A magnitude 5.3 earthquake struck the Mediterranean Sea off Türkiye's southwestern Mugla province on Thursday, the country's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said.

AFAD said the quake occurred about 137 kilometers (85 miles) from the Datca district at 2:06 p.m. local time.

Kandilli reports depth at 9.4 kilometers

The Kandilli Observatory also measured the earthquake at magnitude 5.3 and said it occurred at a depth of 9.4 kilometers.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage in residential areas.

The latest tremor came after a magnitude 4.9 earthquake struck the Mediterranean Sea off Datca last Wednesday.
