Sivas Municipality’s “Castle Project” (Kale Projesi), which presents examples of neighborhood architecture from the Ottoman and Seljuk periods, is targeted for completion in 2028.
Sivas Mayor Adem Uzun highlighted the importance of the Castle Project during a site inspection, calling it a vital future tourism hub for the city. Uzun noted that municipal teams have been working intensively on the site since taking office.
“When we took office, the number of completed buildings here was 11, and we have completed 34 more buildings,” he said.
Uzun said the landscaping tender was held for ₺175 million after the buildings were completed and that work has started.
“We will complete the landscaping by around the end of summer 2027, then we will do the interior furnishing of the buildings,” he said. “We will open our project in 2028.”
Giving details about the project, Uzun said it is actually a 36-year project that continues in their term. He said all the mayors have contributed to it and thanked all of them.
“God willing, when we open it in 2028, we will also run the nostalgic tram right next to it. This will be one of the first places where tourists from outside our city arrive,” he said.
“With the Gok Madrasa on one side, the Great Mosque on another, and our historic Republic Square on another, we will have brought an important tourist destination to our city,” Uzun added.
He also thanked all team members who contributed to the project and said, “May these works be beneficial and auspicious for our city.”
