Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi called his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan on Monday to thank Türkiye for its contributions to the negotiation process between Tehran and Washington.

The phone call confirmed Ankara's behind-the-scenes role in a diplomatic effort publicly credited to Pakistan and Qatar as lead mediators.

According to Turkish Foreign Ministry sources, Fidan expressed satisfaction with the agreement reached between the parties and voiced hope that follow-up talks would also yield a positive outcome.

He stressed the importance of remaining vigilant against provocations aimed at undermining the deal.

"Türkiye will continue its contributions to strengthening peace, stability and prosperity in the region with determination," Fidan said.

The exchange came after Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that the United States and Iran had reached a peace agreement, with a signing ceremony scheduled for Friday in Geneva.

Turkish intel chief welcomes deal with 'cautious expectation'

Turkish National Intelligence Organization (MIT) Director Ibrahim Kalin offered a more measured public assessment of the agreement's significance.

"The news of an agreement between the United States and Iran last night was welcomed by all of us. But we are in a state of cautious expectation," Kalin said.

"Because the process ahead will be a difficult one in which the main subjects of the negotiations are addressed, discussed and negotiated," he noted.
