A missile strike launched by Iran into central Israel killed one person in the Tel Aviv metropolitan area, as the overall death toll from attacks launched from Iran and Lebanon rose to 19, according to Israeli emergency services.
Israel’s emergency service, Magen David Adom, said the fatality occurred in the Gush Dan region, a densely populated area commonly referred to as "greater Tel Aviv."
Authorities reported that missile fragments and shrapnel fell in six separate locations across Tel Aviv and nearby cities, prompting search and rescue operations in Tel Aviv, Ramat Gan and Givatayim.
The Israeli military said it detected incoming missile fire from Iran and activated air defense systems. Within less than 30 minutes, Iran carried out successive waves of strikes, first targeting southern Israel and then shifting focus to central areas.
Air raid sirens sounded across a wide area, including the Negev region, central districts such as Tel Aviv, as well as East Jerusalem and parts of the occupied West Bank.
Israel’s Health Ministry said Thursday that at least 5,229 people have been injured in Iranian attacks since late last month, reflecting the cumulative impact of the ongoing escalation.
The missile attacks came after earlier U.S.-Israeli operations targeted Iranian infrastructure, including steel facilities in Isfahan and Khuzestan and the Hendab Heavy Water Complex near Arak.
Iran had previously warned it would respond to those strikes, leading to the latest wave of attacks involving launches from both Iran and Lebanon.
