Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa met Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam in Doha on Saturday to discuss ways to enhance cooperation and strengthen bilateral relations, Lebanon’s National News Agency reported.
The meeting took place as both leaders attended the opening of the 23rd Doha Forum, which began earlier in the day under the theme “Justice in Action: Beyond Promises to Progress.”
According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), Sharaa participated in the forum’s opening session, though no further details were provided.
The two-day event brings together global leaders and policymakers, including Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares, World Economic Forum President and CEO Borge Brende, former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and former Microsoft CEO Bill Gates.
Turkish news agency Anadolu is serving as the forum’s global communications partner.
The previous edition of the Doha Forum, held in December 2024 under the theme “The Innovation Imperative,” drew over 5,000 participants, including over 350 speakers.
