Turkish international goalkeeper Altay Bayindir prepares to leave English side Manchester United during the summer transfer window as he seeks regular first-team football after three seasons at Old Trafford, according to the report.

The 28-year-old has reportedly attracted interest from Turkish Super Lig clubs, particularly Besiktas and Trabzonspor, as he looks to revive his career with a move that would offer him a regular starting role.

Trabzonspor waits on Onana call

As Bayindir edges closer to the exit, Manchester United is pressing ahead with its search for a new backup goalkeeper, Fabrizio Romano reported.

Under the club's current plans, Senne Lammens is expected to serve as the first-choice goalkeeper, while Tom Heaton remains in the squad as the third-choice option.

At this point, Trabzonspor appears to be in a stronger position, as Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana is due to return from his loan spell with the Turkish club. Should the English side opt to retain Onana, Bayindir could emerge as a leading alternative for the Super Lig outfit.

According to earlier Turkish media reports, Trabzonspor is open to extending Andre Onana's loan spell for another season. However, the Cameroon international is keen to join Manchester United's preseason camp under manager Michael Carrick as he looks to work his way back into the first-team picture.

Besiktas, Fenerbahce emerge as options

Besiktas, meanwhile, is also said to be monitoring Bayindir's situation as it explores ways to strengthen its goalkeeping department ahead of the new season.

The Istanbul club has been linked with a potential departure for Ersin Destanoglu, while its depth between the posts has become more limited following Mert Gunok's exit during the winter transfer window.

Bayindir joined Manchester United from Fenerbahce in the summer of 2023 in a deal worth €5 million ($5.8 million). During his time with the English club, he made 17 appearances and conceded 31 goals.

A return to Fenerbahce is also considered a viable possibility, with the club facing uncertainty over Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson's future after a season marked by several high-profile errors. The lack of established alternatives in goal could further strengthen the case for a move for Bayindir.

Bayindir, one of three goalkeepers in Türkiye's 2026 FIFA World Cup squad, is valued at €4 million by Transfermarkt and has a contract with Manchester United that runs through the summer of 2027.
