Mehmet Karacuka
Professor Dr. Mehmet Karacuka is a professor in the Department of Economics at Ege University in Izmir, Türkiye. He is also a Research Fellow at the Center for Advanced Internet Studies (CAIS) in Bochum, an interdisciplinary research institute funded by the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia that focuses on digitalization. In addition, he serves as a permanent Guest Professor at the Dusseldorf Institute for Competition Economics (DICE) at Heinrich Heine University Dusseldorf. Professor Karacuka studied at the Law and Economics Institute of the University of Hamburg during his doctoral studies and received his PhD from Dokuz Eylul University. He has been a researcher at Erasmus University Rotterdam and a guest scholar at the Dusseldorf Institute for Competition Economics (DICE). He was invited as a researcher by the Telecommunications Authority of Türkiye to analyze competitive dynamics and regulatory issues in Turkish telecommunications markets, and he prepared reports on relevant markets and market power. He has participated in several projects focusing on digitalization and competition in network industries. His main research interests include the political and institutional aspects of economic and competitive processes, as well as energy and telecommunications markets.
