Türkiye’s low-cost carrier AJet is broadening its network in Iraq with new scheduled flights from both Ankara and Istanbul to three major cities—Baghdad, Sulaymaniyah, and Basra—over the next two months, the company announced.

The expansion follows the airline’s successful launch of flights from Ankara to Erbil, one of Iraq’s key commercial and cultural centers, which began on Oct. 27.

The flights currently operate twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays.

Ankara–Baghdad flights to launch in early November

AJet plans to inaugurate its first direct flight from Ankara to Baghdad, the Iraqi capital and one of the Middle East’s main transportation hubs, on Nov. 3. The service will run three times a week—on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays—complementing the carrier’s existing flights to Baghdad from Istanbul.

In early December, AJet will further extend its Iraqi operations with two additional routes from Istanbul. Scheduled flights to Sulaymaniyah, located in the autonomous Kurdistan Region of Iraq, will start on Dec. 2 and operate four days a week—Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

The airline will also launch a new route from Istanbul to Basra, Iraq’s second-largest city and a key economic center near the Persian Gulf, beginning Dec. 5. Flights on this route are planned three times a week—on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

AJet expands regional footprint

With these additions, AJet—a subsidiary of Turkish Airlines—continues to strengthen its presence in the Middle East, enhancing connectivity between Türkiye and Iraq’s major cities.

As a low-cost subsidiary of Turkish Airlines, AJet focuses on offering accessible domestic and international flights to a wide range of destinations across Europe, the Middle East, and Central Asia.

It currently serves 42 domestic destinations and 58 international destinations across 33 countries.
